Maybe you believe in Aliens. Maybe you don’t. Maybe you think there’s something else out there. Or maybe you think it’s just me, you and the rest of this magical planet.

Whatever you believe, is completely valid and personal to you and I will always respect that.
Although, in my opinion?
We are part of something much, much bigger.
I’m not even sure if our human brains are capable of comprehending it, without an active change of perspective. I mean, I am only just coming with terms with actually how small we are in comparison to everything out there in the universe.
How can one little space station (yes NASA, that’s you) possibly receive and process all of the potential information available out there, when we are only just coming to terms with the internet and its speed?
Do we even have the technology to be able to receive/process everything we possibly could or should be able too?
My opinion is that, there’s planets out there further developed (whether technological or evolutionary) than us and also, planets that are further behind. And, no two planets will necessarily experience the same timeline as planet Earth. Furthermore, not every planet will experience the same evolution process that we did here on Earth. There's potential they adapted in different ways, just as people from different continents evolved different physical features (as mentioned in this study).
Are you thinking: Well, that’s a bit of a bold statement?
You're absolutely right. It is. And I don't really have any proof other than books I've read in the past. But I am happy to share with you why I think it’s possible, actually more than possible that, there is life out there on other planets. Alien form or not.
One thing to keep in mind throughout the article is that alien doesn’t necessarily mean those little green folks from Toy Story, or the big-eyed E.T.
Alien, by definition is anything foreign to the norm. Whether this be; A new and peculiar fish in the water, a strange plant growing somewhere it shouldn’t or even a talking, living being, elsewhere in the universe, they are all categorised as Alien forms.
Disclosure:
As you might not know, I'm no mathematician or scientist so I will am writing this post to my best ability possible. Please be understanding if I get certain calculations wrong but you can use google to do further research or reading.
The Infinite Monkey Theorem
Ok so, have you have heard of the Infinite Monkey Theorem? (also known as the Monkeys and Typewriters theory)?
If not, I will attempt to describe it briefly below.
The general idea is; an infinite amount of monkey's can recreate a Shakespeare text (or any text for that matter, including this one!) using infinite amount of typewriter's by hitting keys at random if they were given enough time.
Try to imagine it in terms of a million monkeys, with a million typewriters, hitting the same 26 keys over and over again in different orders. Eventually they’re going to start constructing words and sentences, right? because there’s so many possibilities happening, from so many monkeys.
Infinite monkeys + Infinite typewriters + Infinite time = Shakespeare.
The probability of it happening is 1%. Small, but still possible.
In simpler terms, it's the idea you could unlock your friends iPhone via his/her 5-code password using the numbers 0-9, if you we’re given enough time.
It’s simply, just a matter of trying different sequences until you get it right. The only difference between a 5-code password and an entire Shakespeare text is how much patience you will need. One could take 5 minutes, the other 5 thousand years, despite both possible.
Undoubtedly, you’d unlock your friend's iPhone a lot quicker, if there was more than you on the job
But the overall rule is; you can come up with every possible number combination (just as a monkey could retype, word for word but by random generation, a Shakespeare play), if given enough time.
The more possibilities, the less probability. Although, it's not impossible as the original letters and space bar that created Shakespeare are all provided. .
Now, let’s apply that to planet Earth and the idea of other forms of life being in our Universe.
What is the probability of the exact same ingredients that make Earth 'habitual', being available on another planet?
Those ingredients are things such as; Water, perfect distance from the starlight (or in our case, the sun), Carbon, etc, etc……
Or, What’s the probability of the key ingredients of life being available on another planet?
As in, Energy for growth (from a source e.g. Starlight or Volcano’s), Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Sulphur etc, etc.
(If you’re interested in the ingredients and growth of life, I will link the source at the end).
Impossible? You think?
Let me take you back to the monkey and typewriter’s theorem. It can’t actually be impossible.
Why? Because everything that's needed to create life on earth is available in area's. Therefore, there's at least 1% probability that there’s another planet out there (or more) with the same conditions as planet earth.
Imagine the Universe as a cycle of endless possibilities, spitting out planet's at random generation.
So, Let’s expand on that trail of thought for a minute.
Is it fair to say, at some point in the past 3.5 billion years or so (since life has been on earth, or, if not even prior to that time), at least one other planet has been existing in the same “habitual condition” we call planet earth? Potentially so.
Now think, Where are they in terms of evolution and advancement right now?
Maybe they were stupid and died out? Maybe life didn't get as complex as ours? Maybe they're thriving and living their best life with inventions beyond our comprehension.... Who knows. The possibilities are endless.
But, let's do some Mathematical Calculations for verification.
Fact number 1: There are 8 planets in our solar system. Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Earth and Mercury, oh and Pluto...
Fact number 2: We are a structure of planets orbiting a star (the sun), which has been given the "official name" of a Solar System. The word "Solar" having derived from "Sun".
Fact number 3: The Sun (the centre of our solar system) is just one of around 200-500 billion stars in our Milky Way (or our galaxy).
Fact number 4: There are at least, 2,500 stars with orbiting planets (similarly to the Sun) that aren’t named or recognised as "Solar System's" within our Milky Way (our galaxy).
Imagine each one of those, 2,500+ stars, had exactly 8 orbiting planets, just like our Sun.
(If it can happen once, if can happen again).
2500 x 8 = That’s at least 22,000 planets with an energy source.
Or, 22,000 planets which could be any variation or more (climate-wise) of; Earth, Jupiter, Neptune, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Mercury and Venus.
Meaning at least, 2,750 of them may be some variation of Earth's climate. Showing there are planets out there, where life could be possible.
(Nasa.gov. Full Sources at the end of article).
Fact Number 5: Google shows; there’s at leaaaast 100 billion galaxies (other Milky Way's) in the Universe as a whole.
If each of those 100 billion galaxies, had 2,750 potential variations of Earth within them.....
That's a lot of variations. Think back to the Monkey Typewriter theory. We're getting pretty close to recreating perfectly, habitual conditions or even an exact replica of planet Earth.
100,000,000,000 x 2750 = 27e14*
*I'm no mathematician or scientist, but I believe that roughly translates to, 2,700,000,000,000,000, which is nearly 3 quadrillion planets!).
Think of how vast The Universe is by re-read those big numbers above. Don’t you find yourself a little more open to the idea of life being created elsewhere?
On top of that, statistically 1 in 5 stars has a planet with "perfect habitual" conditions and we've only explored 4% of space.
There is potentially, 3 quadrillion other Earth planets available.
Mind-blowing.
If you are interested, I created an article on two habitual planets you can find it here.
I encourage you to read that if you found this article mind-provoking.
But overall, it's Monkey's and typewriters in my opinion. If it can happen once, it can happen twice. And a whole bunch more times by the looks and the size of the numbers we have to process. There has got to be life out there. Whether it be more advance or less advanced, I guess it’s a waiting game.
Think back to when I questioned at the beginning of the post, whether we even have the technology available to access everything that's out there or has been put out there for us?
Maybe there’s a tropical paradise out there somewhere, with unbelievable things happening. Animals we’d never believe, perhaps dinosaurs still roaming (again, not impossible but admittedly, incredibly slim. That would be like monkey’s typing two different Shakespeare texts. Or, evolution making the same ‘decisions’ twice).
But doesn’t that open just so many more exciting possibilities? It’s cool if life has recreated humans elsewhere, but how amazing would it be seeing the other alternatives of what could have been?
What if, certain species didn’t die out?
What if, certain decisions weren't made?
What if, certain peditators came before their pray, how would that effect things?
What if, animals never made it onto land?
What if, life started on land?
BOOM! A vast amount of possibilities and endless opportunities.
We sit on this spinning planet and believe we're the only ones here in the universe. We treat the planet like we have superior knowledge and power.
What if one day, we saw something much bigger than our mind could comprehend?
Would we dismiss it due to fear and ego?
Or would we embrace it with desire to learn and curiosity?
Maybe we won't have any alien encounters in our life time, and life as we known it.
But remember in my first post and how we discussed Einstein's, "Nothing can be created nor destroyed". Maybe during our transformation after death, we'll return to the complex unknown space or realm we call home, or perhaps we'll finally discover it.
Note: I don’t intend to take credit for any of the findings, if they weren’t referenced properly.
And of course, any similarities found between this post and others are pure, pure coincidence. Which isn’t that unbelievable after all is it?
Peace and Love x
